Little Big Cats { 23 images } Created 18 Jan 2020
This big cat centre located on the outskirts of Livingstone Zambia.
Home to cheetahs, lions, caracals and elephants, it shelters these increasingly endangered species .
The centre controversially funds its conservation work with strictly controlled paid interactions between the cats and the public, with the practice being so divisive they have even received death threats.
Little opportunity is given to the reasons the centre has to fundraise in this manner, or the extensive conservation work they do rescuing orphaned lion cubs (some seen in the images here) or helping local communities find non-destructive methods in warding off animals when they come into contact with livestock, or the sacrifices staff make to ensure the welfare of its guests. Ian, seen feeding the lion cubs, often spends months away from home to sleep in the same room as the cubs, waking three time a night to ensure they receive the meals essential to their development.
Prints are available for sale from this gallery, and go towards helping the centre support its devoted staff and its incredible, vulnerable inhabitants.
